CPR/AED - High School (Teacher)

CPR/AED - High School (Teacher)
Description

The "CPR/AED – Secondary (Teacher)" training program from the Académie Saint-Bernard is specifically designed to train teachers to pass on essential skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to their students.

This comprehensive program includes all the necessary instructional materials to enable teachers to effectively deliver the training themselves.

Participants will learn how to teach students to recognize cardiovascular emergencies, perform CPR, and use an AED on adults, children, and infants.

Through practical sessions and assessments, teachers will gain full mastery of the techniques and be fully prepared to train their students to respond in the event of a cardiac emergency.

INTRODUCTION

Cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death, and it's crucial that young people are trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). The “CPR/AED - Secondary” training offered by Académie Saint-Bernard is designed to equip students with vital skills to react effectively in the event of a cardiac emergency. This training also meets the CPR teaching requirement for all 3rd year high school students. Structured to provide comprehensive, hands-on learning, this training is essential to saving lives.

TRAINING GOALS

The main objective of the training is to reduce mortality and morbidity from Cardiopulmonary Arrest (C.P.A.) by training participants to intervene quickly and effectively. Students acquire skills in recognizing cardiovascular emergencies, performing Airway Clearance (ACR), and knowing how to use an AED.

More specifically, the training aims to ensure that participants are able to:

  1. recognize the different types of cardiovascular emergencies, including cardiac arrest and stroke;
  2. practice resuscitation and defibrillation techniques for adults, children and infants;
  3. clear obstructed airways;
  4. master ventilation procedures and associated techniques.

METHODOLOGY AND ASSESSMENT

We offer an interactive, hands-on teaching approach, combining theory and mannequin simulations. Participants are assessed through questionnaires and practical exercises. Each lesson includes videos and demonstrations to ensure thorough understanding.

TEACHING MATERIALS

At Académie Saint-Bernard, we understand the importance of having the right teaching tools to ensure effective and comprehensive training. These resources are carefully developed to ensure that each training session is productive and rewarding. As such, the materials provided facilitate learning and ensure that trainers have everything they need to conduct successful high school CPR/AED training sessions.

In addition to our interactive platform containing the theoretical concepts to be assimilated, here are the teaching materials we make available:

  • A welcome message to introduce the Académie Saint-Bernard and the training we offer.
  • Information letter for parents.
  • Letter requesting volunteer help.
  • Training tips for students with special needs.
  • Training plan explaining in detail the training program, objectives, content, evaluations and practical activities.
  • Guides for practical sessions, including instructions for optimal room set-up and a set of scenarios for simulating emergency situations, enabling students to train under realistic conditions.
  • Assessment grids to evaluate students' practical skills in DVR and CPR.
  • Guide to cleaning and disinfecting equipment.
  • Instruction from the ministère de l'Éducation du Québec containing guidelines and relevant information to ensure that training meets educational standards.

FREE INITIAL TRAINING

At Académie Saint-Bernard, we're committed to making learning accessible and easy for everyone. That's why we're offering a free introductory training session to explain how our online training platform works. PRACTICAL EVALUATION SESSIONS

We understand the importance of practical sessions in learning CPR and AED techniques. To ensure complete and effective evaluation of practical skills, an Académie Saint-Bernard trainer can travel to your training site to supervise these sessions. Here's how we do it:

  • Session planning: We work with you to schedule practical sessions at times that suit your schedule.
  • On-site evaluation: An experienced trainer will visit your site to supervise CPR and AED practice, provide guidance and assess participants' skills.
  • Immediate feedback: Participants will receive constructive feedback in real time to improve their techniques and ensure thorough understanding.

This approach ensures that the skills acquired are not only theoretical, but also practical, in line with Académie Saint-Bernard's high standards.
