In Quebec, the field of first aid is essentially governed by the laws and regulations of the province. In fact, the administration of health services falls under provincial jurisdiction. It is the Quebec government or an authority empowered by it that has the power to enact standards. It is understood that the development of these laws and regulations is carried out by legislators assisted by medical and administrative authorities competent in this case.
According to this legislation, when no health care professional is present on an emergency scene, any person may:
- Use AED (Automated External Defibrillator) during ACR (Cardio-Respiratory Arrest)
- Administering epinephrine during an anaphylactic type reaction using an auto-injectable device
- Give glucagon to an unconscious person who is convulsing, unable to swallow or confused, and who is hypoglycaemic if the rescuer has attended and completed training on administration of the latter
- Administer oxygen before the arrival of the paramedics if the rescuer has followed and passed training on the administration of the latter
In order to be able to intervene in the greatest number of circumstances, it is therefore in the interest of any rescuer or person concerned with the good of others (and of anyone in distress!), To follow a training of first aid. On our academiesb.comsite, you can follow a variety of courses on first aid. Whether it’s to satisfy a job requirement, to better protect the lives of your family and loved ones, or just for personal cultivation, you’ll find everything you need.
Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité au travail (Committee on Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work)
In Quebec, the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety (CNESST) administers the occupational health and safety system. Since 1984 she has been responsible for the first aid training program. It requires, at all times during working hours, the presence of a certain number of first-aid workers in the workplace according to certain standards. First aid training in the workplace lasts 16 hours and is subsidized by CNESST. Only contracted organizations (called “suppliers”) with CNESST can form and issue this certification. In order to obtain first aid certification in the workplace, the candidate must complete the entire course lasting 16 hours, and subsequently pass the assessment of the knowledge acquired. The certificate thus issued will be valid for a period of 3 years and must be renewed in its entirety following its expiry.
Our academiesb.comsite is not a contracted organization with CNESST. We are therefore not a recognized or accredited provider of first aid training in the workplace, as required by this commission. However, our training equals and surpasses even its minimum requirements. We are pleased to offer high quality training to anyone who wishes to acquire a first aid training equivalent to that required in a workplace, and this in the comfort and moments that suits him best.
Duty to train the workforce – Entreprise Québec
In order to promote the development and recognition of the skills of the workforce, the Quebec government has put in place a law requiring some employers to reinvest a certain percentage of training. A company with a payroll of more than $ 2 million must fulfill certain training obligations for its staff: It must devote the equivalent of 1% of its payroll to the training and skills development of its staff. Failure to do so will result in the company paying this percentage to the Workforce Skills Development and Recognition Fund. The sum of money thus lost and paid to the state will be reinvested at the option of the latter to other projects related to the training of the workforce. That’s why we suggest that employers allow as many of their employees as possible to acquire the first aid skills we offer here, with all the benefits of online training, despite the fact that it cannot serve for the purposes required by CNESST.
Since the company must declare the total calculation of its training costs to the Commission des partenaires du travail du travail, a form specifically designed for this purpose will be issued by us to provide this declaration. Similarly, the company must also forward the total calculation of its training fees to Revenu Québec. We will also give you a specific form for this purpose.
Since first aid training is in everyone’s interest, it goes without saying that all the programs available on our academiesb.comsite qualify to meet the training requirements of the law. In order to provide a safe work environment, since an accident or incident can occur anywhere, it is strongly recommended to take advantage of this opportunity.
